Who are the URI Master Gardeners?

Training
URI Master Gardener is a prestigious title earned by completing 16 weeks of training in plant science and contemporary horticultural best practices. These courses are taught by URI faculty, veteran Master Gardeners, and other local experts.

Specific areas of study include botany, soils, plant physiology, pests and disease, Integrated Pest MAnagement, turf management, pruning, composting, pesticide safety, roses and perennials, and fruit and vegetable production.

Master Gardeners are as passionate about their communities as they are about proper horticulture. They participate actively in educational and outreach events that show how to preserve their valuable land and water resources.
